Using AI and real-time data to design a personal tool for local traffic awareness.
Länsisatama, Helsinki’s busiest harbour, serves nearly 7 million passengers and 1.3 million vehicle annually, creating daily traffic jams and full trams in the surrounding neighbourhood. Living nearby, I designed a lightweight browser widget to track upcoming ship arrivals and display two live traffic camera feeds. This helps me to plan trips more efficiently and avoid congestion.
With minimal coding experience, I collaborated with AI to structure the project, integrate Finland’s public marine traffic API, and debug issues as they came up. The result is a fast, setup-free tool that loads in seconds and has become a daily habit.
It's not complex — but it’s purposeful, and it works.
